About This Recipe
- These cookies are very easy to make and do not need any fancy equipment or ingredients.
- This recipe uses the basic ingredients that we usually need to make cookies, such as butter, sugar, egg, flour, baking powder, baking soda, vanilla extract, and salt.
- Apart from those basic ingredients, these citrus cookies use a couple of teaspoons of lemon zest as well as orange zest. The natural and delicious aroma of the citrus zest is very powerful and distinct.
- If you are making this recipe when there is no citrus fruit around, You can always use one tablespoon of orange extract to substitute the zest.
- These cookies do not require chilling time, however, if you leave them in the fridge for 10-15 minutes, will prevent the cookies from expanding too much.
How To Make These Citrus Cookies
- Sift together all the dry ingredients and set aside.
- Add the orange and lemon zest to the sugar and massage the grated zest into the flour mixture. This will help release the aroma from the zest.

- Using a rubber spatula, add the dry ingredients and mix until incorporated.
- Make small globes and place them on the baking sheet. Chill them for 10-25 minutes.
- In the meantime, preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line the baking sheets with parchment paper.
- After 10 minutes, roll them in the sifted powdered sugar and place them on the lined baking sheet. Leave a 2-inch space between them.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes.
- Let the cookies sit on the baking sheet for ten minutes, then transfer them to a cooling rack to cool down completely.
