About This Recipe
- Again another easy recipe with no fancy ingredients. This Sugar Tea Cookies recipe comes together very quickly with very basic ingredients. They pair well with a cup of tea.
- After the dough has come together and is ready, it should chill for an hour. This will incorporate shaping the cookies and makes it much much easier to get the desired shape at the end.
- You can add chopped dry fruit such as cranberries, or even crushed nuts to this cookie dough to make fruity sugar cookies. Side Note... The fruity version of these cookies is very pretty.
- One thing that I would like you to pay attention to is, to try to use clear vanilla extract, This will keep the dough very bright.
How To Make These Sugar Tea Cookies
- Make the dough as mentioned in the recipe card below.
- After kneading the dough for just a few minutes, cut the dough ball into two discs and roll each dough into a log. It should be 8 inches long and 2 inches thick.
- If you would like to make square or rectangular-shaped cookies, start pressing the log in lengthwise to shape it like a long cube. If you are happy with just round cookies, skip this step.
- Wrap each log in cling wrap and refrigerate for at least one hour or until the dough is hard to touch.
- Unwrap the log after chilling and cut each log from the length into half an inch squares. Place on the lined sheets and bake.
- After cookies are cooled down completely, dip the corner of each cookie into melted chocolate to create the chess effect, and let the chocolate set. I sprinkled these cookies with turbinado sugar, however, you can use sea salt, crushed nuts, or any other sprinkles such as confetti sprinkles.
