    About This Recipe

    • This Brownie recipe is extra rich, decadent, and delicious, Also super easy and has no fancy ingredients.
    • The combination of chocolate and cocoa powder contributes to the rich chocolaty flavor in these brownies.
    • The topping is just orange and yellow smarties, however, you can use other colors depending on the season! Use red, green, and red for the Christmas brownies.

How To Make These Smarties Brownies

    • Start by mixing both sugars, chocolate, and butter. Place the bowl over a double boiler and let the chocolate and butter melt and mix well with the sugars. This may take up to 5-10 minutes.
    • When placing the bowl containing the butter, and chocolate over the boiling pot, make sure the bottom of the bowl is not touching the boiling water. Boiling water makes the chocolate seize, and also makes the mixture too hot.
    • Once the chocolate mixture is slightly cooled down, add the eggs one at a time. Be sure to mix well after each one. At the end of this stage, the mixture should be light and fluffy.

    • Using a rubber spatula, mix in the cocoa powder, and gently mix.
    • At the end add the flour and gently mix. Make sure not to overmix.
    • Spread a combination of orange and yellow Smarties all over the top.
    • After the brownie batch is baked, let it cool down in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer it to the cooling rack to cool down completely. If you rush the brownie before cooling it down, you will end up with a brownie mess!
