These soft, chewy, and decadent Oreo Chocolate Cookies are loaded with rich creamy chopped Oreos and mini chocolate chips.
These Oreo Chocolate Cookies are just your ordinary chocolate cookies. These chewy cookies are loaded with chopped Oreos and mini chocolate chips. This recipe has one ingredient that sets these cookies apart from other chocolate cookies! And that is the HOT CHOCOLATE POWDER. The hot chocolate powder has a sweet and chocolatey, and warm flavour.
About This Oreo Chocolate Cookies
- This recipe is rich, decadent, and ultimate chocolaty.
- The choice of Oreos that you use is totally up to you; if you go for the Oreo Classic, however, I used the Oreos with chocolate filling.
- The signature ingredient in this recipe is the Hot Chocolate Mix. You measure the flour the way you always do, then remove one tablespoon of the flour and replace it with Hot Chocolate Mix. This small amount of the Hot Chocolate Mix will add our desired flavour. Do not forget; we don't want to overwhelm the cookies with this ingredient or cover the Oreos and chocolate chips flavour.
- This Oreo Chocolate Cookie dough requires at least one hour of chilling time. Chilling the dough prevents the cookie from expanding and spreading in the oven. It also contributes to the cookies' chewy texture.
- This recipe calls for chocolate chips, and I am using mini ones only because they create a softer look on top of the cookies.
- The other ingredients are simple and basic.
- One ingredient that I would like to talk about is the brown sugar. Brown sugar contains molasses with a unique warm flavour, adding moisture to our cookies.
- This recipe calls for both eggs and yolk. The extra egg yolk plays a big role in the chewy and soft cookie texture.
- Use an ice cream scoop to scoop the dough onto the baking sheet. This will give you all equal size cookies.
- One tip for having a round and uniform cookie is to go around the cookies with a large round cookie cutter right after the cookies are out of the oven. Hot cookies are super soft and can change shape before cooling down.
How To Make These Cookies
- Start creaming the room-temperature butter with both sugars until fluffy and light.
- Add the eggs, yolk, and vanilla extract. Beat the mixture for about two minutes.
- Sift the dry ingredients, flour, baking soda, hot chocolate mix, and salt. Add the mixture to the egg mixture. Mix just until there is no trace of flour is seen.
- Mix in the chopped Oreos and chocolate chips. Cover the dough and chill it for an hour.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Scoop the dough onto the lined baking sheet. Leave a two-inch space between them.
- Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes in a 350F oven. Run a round cookie cutter around the cookies to give them a round shape, and immediately add some extra chocolate chips and chopped Oreos on top of the cookies.
