About These Rice Crispy Mummies
- This recipe is so versatile that you can make different shapes and colours of Rice Krispies. See this post for the Pumpkin Rice Krispies how-to. If you have ever made Rice Krispie Squares, you know that this delicious snack/dessert does not require baking. It's so easy, breezy!
- These Rice Krispies squares require only a few simple ingredients, including Rice Krispies Cereal, large marshmallows, Butter, and melted chocolate to make the bandages.
How To Make These Mummies
- Start by melting the Butter in a large pan with a thick bottom on low heat.
- Turn the heat to medium-high and add the marshmallows. Stir until all the marshmallows are melted.
- Add the Rice Krispies and mix until all the Rice Krispies pieces are covered with melted marshmallows.
- Let the mixture cool for 5 minutes. If it is too hot, it will not stick together.
- Oil Spray a 9X13 casserole pan and line with parchment paper.
- Spread the mixture evenly into the pan and smooth out the top.
- Let the dish sit on the counter for 30 minutes to harden and be easy to cut.
- After 30 minutes, lift the parchment paper from the dish and place it on a flat surface.
- Use a sharp knife to cut the slab into rectangular shapes.
How To Make The White Chocolate Bandage
- Double Boiler Method
- Use white chocolate bars rather than chocolate chips, as the chocolate chips are not meant for melting.
- Make a double boiler by bringing water to the boil in a saucepan. Place a heatproof bowl containing white chocolate chunks over the boiling water, and be sure the hot water does not touch the bottom of the bowl. Keep the water at a simmering stage and let the chocolate melt slowly. Stir occasionally.
- The bowl, spatula and anything else that comes into contact with the chocolate should be dry. Water will seize the chocolate.
2. Microwave Method
- Place the white chocolate in a dry, heatproof bowl. Microwave at 30-second intervals, stirring after each time.
- Keep heating the chocolate until it is melted and smooth. Add a small amount of coconut oil to reach the desired consistency if it is stiff.
Pipe the chocolate over the Rice Krispie squares with a small, flat piping tip. We try to make the bandage look like a mummy.
Place two edible candy eyes on the chocolates before it is hardened.
Storing: Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days.
Disclaimer: I highly recommend using the measurements in grams & ml (instead of cups & spoons) for more accuracy and better results.
