Now that I am writing the recipe for this Apple Cider Bundt Cake With Toffee Glaze, the cool Fall breeze has filled the air; leaves are changing colour, and we can see all kinds of apples in the produce section. Apples have the word Fall stamp on them, and oh, is it ever fun to bake with apples! This Apple Cider Bundt Cake is one of the recipes you need to try not only in the Fall but all year round, as apples are available all year round.

About This Apple Cider Bundt Cake With Toffee Glaze Recipe

    • This recipe uses Apple Cider and apple sauce for the ultimate apple flavour. Apple sauce plays a role like oil does in the recipe. It has moisturizing effects on the cake crumb.

    What Is Apple Cider?

Apple cider (also called sweet cider, soft cider, or simply cider) is used in the United States and Canada for an unfiltered, unsweetened, non-alcoholic beverage made from only apples.

Fresh liquid cider is extracted from the whole apple, including the apple core, trimmings from apples, and oddly sized or shaped “imperfect” apples or apple culls. Fresh cider is opaque due to fine apple particles in suspension and generally tangier than commercially cooked and filtered apple juice, but this depends somewhat on the variety of apples used.

The Difference Between The Apple Cider & Juice

Apple juice consists of fresh apples that have been pressed, filtered, and sweetened. In most cases, apple juice also contains preservatives for stability. It’s translucent and a light, golden colour.

Apple cider is made of pressed fresh apples. Unfiltered and raw, it doesn’t contain added sugar, undergoes minimal processing, and is usually unpasteurized. It tends to be slightly darker than apple juice, more opaque, and can sometimes have residue at the bottom. Source: The Kitchn & Wikipedia

    • We need both butter and oil to have the buttery flavour and moisture. Butter is the number one flavouring agent in almost all recipes.
    • Another crucial ingredient to add flavour to our recipe is brown sugar. Brown sugar has a caramel-like flavour and adds an excellent depth in colour, too.

    • Regarding the spices, I think apple pairs with warm spices perfectly. This Apple Cider Bundt Cake With Toffee Glaze recipe calls for cinnamon and ginger, but Pumpkin Pie Spice will work fine. See Spice Blends for different seasonal blends.

    The Toffee Glaze

    • The Toffee Glaze is a delicious and caramel-like sauce that can complement a variety of recipes such as cakes, ice creams or cookies.
    • The list of ingredients is short and straightforward, and the process is also very easy.
    • I have sprinkled toffee bits on top of the cake, but that is totally optional.
