Every time I make a recipe that is using egg whites, such as Swiss Meringue Buttercream or CONFETTI WHITE CAKE, I will have a lot of egg yolk left over. Then I come up with recipes that only use egg yolks, and these delicious chocolate Yolk cookies recipe is one of those recipes. These cookies are very chewy and soft inside and crunchy on the outside. Egg yolk makes the bonding in the recipe. In this recipe, I am using 5 egg yolks, and that will create the chewiness in the cookies.
Recipe Note
- This recipe is very very easy to prepare. I mean within a few minutes it comes together. There are only 15 minutes of chilling time.
- These chocolate yolk cookies contain a good amount of chopped chocolate, and in every bite, there is a burst of chocolate in your mouth.
- As the name of the recipe suggests, we are going to use only egg yolks to make these cookies and VOLIA 😉 Egg yolk means bonding and chewiness! These cookies will have a crusty surface that creates a crunchy bite.
- The baking time is only 10-12 minutes. It cannot be easier than that.
- I have used a mix of dark and milk chocolate in these cookies. You can do only dark or whichever you prefer.
- If you prefer, you can add some nuts such as pecans or walnuts to these cookies.

Chocolate Yolk Cookies
Ingredients
- 2 cups All-purpose flour, Spooned and leveled
- 1 teaspoon Baking soda
- 1 teaspoon Baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon Salt
- 1 cup Butter, Room temperature
- 1 tablespoon Vanilla extract
- 1 cup Brown sugar, packed
- 1 cup Granulated sugar
- 5 Egg yolks, Room temperature
Instructions
- Whisk all the dry ingredients together and set aside.2 cups All-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon Baking soda, 1 teaspoon Baking powder, ¼ teaspoon Salt
- Set your mixer on paddle attachment, and beat the butter with two sugars well. This should take good 3-4 minutes.1 cup Butter, 1 cup Brown sugar, packed, 1 cup Granulated sugar
- Add the vanilla extract, then add the egg yolks, one at a time, and mix after each one.1 tablespoon Vanilla extract, 5 Egg yolks
- Add the mixed dry ingredients to the above mixture, and mix until incorporated. DO NOT OVERMIX.
- Cover the dough and chill for 15 minutes. in the meantime, line two large baking sheets with parchment paper, and preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Scoop out the cookie dough into a small ball, the size of a small tangerine. place on the lined baking sheets. leave 2-inch space between them.
- Bake in the preheated oven, for 10-12 minutes. Until the edges are slightly brown and set. Let cool down on the baking sheet, then transfer to the cooling rack.
