World's most delicious, and super easy to make applesauce
Apples are a fruit with more than 100 varieties, and they are used in cooking and baking. Sweet apples are more suitable for baking and desserts, whereas tart apples make better ingredients in cooking recipes. Apples are also used to make apple sauce, apple butter, or dried apples in snack mixes. There is nothing better than a delicious homemade apple sauce recipe.
What Is Apple Sauce?
- Apple sauce is a puree made of peeled or un-peeled apples cooked in water or apple juice, and once apples are soft enough, we mash them to form the puree.
- Apple Sauce can be sweetened or unsweetened, spiced or plain.
- Most baking recipes call for unsweetened apple sauce.
- If the apples are unpeeled, the color of them determines the final color. Red apples make pink apple sauce. Green apples make a greenish color apple sauce and yellow apples will produce a neutral color apple sauce.
I used Cosmic Crisp apples which have red skin in this recipe. That is why this sauce is pink.
What We Use Apple Sauce For?
- Sprinkle it with some cinnamon to make a simple and healthy snack.
- Apple sauce makes a good side dish with meaty dishes.
- We use it in a variety of bakings such as Applesauce cake.
- More importantly for baking, it acts like oil and egg. Therefore, it is a perfect choice in vegan and low-fat recipes.
How To Make This Recipe
- Wash, slice, and core the apples. I did not peel my apples
- Put the apples in a large pot. Add the water, sugar, a couple of cinnamon sticks, and a pinch of salt.
- Cook the apples until their flesh is soft.
- Use an immersion blender to blend the mixture until it is smooth.
- If you prefer, skip adding the cinnamon sticks.
Disclaimer: I highly recommend using the measurements in grams & ml (instead of cups & spoons) for more accuracy and better results.

Apple Sauce

Ingredients
- 4 lb Apples
- 1 cup Water
- 2 tablespoon Sugar
- ½ teaspoon Salt
- 2 tablespoon Lemon juice, Freshly squeezed
- 4 Cinnamon sticks, Medium size
Instructions
- Wash, core, and slice the apples.4 lb Apples
- Pour all the ingredients into a large pot and place on the stove.1 cup Water, 2 tablespoon Sugar, ½ teaspoon Salt, 2 tablespoon Lemon juice, 4 Cinnamon sticks
- Cook the apples until all their flesh is soft. about 2 hours.
- Remove the cinnamon sticks. Using an immersion blender, blend all the mixture until smooth and lump free.
- Let the mixture cool down, then fill the jars and store them in the fridge.
Notes
The color of the apples determines the final color of the apple sauce. I used red apples.
