Instructions

How To Make The Cookies

  • Whisk all dry ingredients and set aside.
3 cups All-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon Baking soda, ½ teaspoon Baking powder, ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • In a separate bowl, add the lemon zest to the sugar, and rub it with your fingertips to release the lemon aroma.
1 cup Sugar, 1 tablespoon Lemon zest
  • Beat the butter and sugar mixed with the lemon zest until it is creamy and soft.
    ½ cup Butter
  • Add the eggs, one at a time, and mix well. Add in the sour cream and vanilla and lemon extract. Mix everything well.
2 Eggs, ½ cup Sour Cream, 2 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • Switch to a rubber spatula and gently fold in the dry ingredients until the dough is formed.
  • Divide the dough into two portions and wrap them in cling wrap and chill for at least two hours.
  • Generously dust the working surface with flour and roll out the dough. Use a medium size cookie cutter to cut the cookies. Bake them for 8-10 minutes.
  • Let them cool down completely before decoraing.

How To Make The Frosting

  • Beat the butter and cream cheese until well blended and soft.
½ cup Butter, ¼ cup Cream cheese

2-3 cups Powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon Lemon extract
  • Add one drop of pink and half a drop of light orange to reach a soft blush color. When adding color to your dough or batter go very slowly to avoid making it too dark.
